Ambassador Melkonian's meeting with the Governor of Alexandria

 On March 21, Armenian Ambassador to Egypt H.E. Dr. Armen Melkonian had a meeting with the Governor of Alexandria Dr. Osama Mohamed El Fouly. 

 During the meeting the sides discussed prospects of cooperation in various fields, and stressed the importance of the establishment of direct contacts between the cities of Armenia and Alexandria.

 Ambassador Melkonian informed the governor about the celebrations expected to take place on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of Armenian printing and the declaration of Yerevan as the World Book Capital in 2012 by UNESCO and conveyed the invitation of the organizing committee to attend the solemn opening ceremony in April 2012. 

 Dr. El Fouly congratulated the Ambassador on the declaration of Yerevan as the World Book Capital in 2012 remembering that Alexandria bore the title of World Book Capital in 2002. He also underlined the particular role and significant contribution of the Armenian community of Alexandria in the preserving and development of the unique cultural trait of the city.
