07.02.2018 • Ambassador Melkonian met with Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the League of Arab States

On February 7, meeting of Armen Melkonian, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Egypt, and Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the League of Arab States, took place. Expressing gratitude for the reception, Ambassador Melkonian presented to Ahmed Aboul Gheit the preparatory works for the 17th Summit of the International Organisation of La Francophonie to be held in Yerevan on October 11-12 and the events planned within the framework of the summit, expressing hope that the Organization will be represented at the summit at the highest level. Ahmed Aboul Gheit and Armen Melkonian discussed prospects for strengthening cooperation and establishing sustainable dialogue between Armenia and the Arab League, as well as exchanged thoughts on a number of regional issues.

On January 29, The «Cosmopolitan» international rotary Club of Cairo dedicated a special event to Armenia, in which Egyptian and foreign members of the club, Egypt’s public figures and businessmen, representatives of the Armenian community and spiritual leaders were present. 27.12.2017 • The meeting of ambassador Melkonian with the Governor of South Sinai

On December 27, Armen Melkonian, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Egypt, met with General Khaled Fouda, the Governor of South Sinai. Expressing his gratitude for the reception, Ambassador Melkonian stated that the coastal resort of Sharm El Sheikh in South Sinai is a favorite destination for Armenian tourists and the regular flights between Armenia and Sharm El Sheikh, established in June 2017, not only promoted tourism, but also activated the business contacts between two countries. In his turn, Governor Fouda stated that they are always pleased to welcome the tourists from friendly Armenia in Sharm El Sheikh. He emphasized the constant efforts aimed at making the tourists recreation in South Sinai more comfortable and safe. On December 17, Armen Melkonian, Ambassador of Armenia to Egypt, met with Tarek Radwan, Chairman of the Permanent Committee for Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives of Egypt.           The opportunities of development of inter-parliamentary ties between the two countries were discussed. Ambassador Melkonian presented the priorities of Armenia's foreign policy and economic development.  In his turn, Chairman of the Permanent Committee for Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives spoke about the problems and challenges Egypt currently faces.  While attaching importance to the  centuries old traditional friendship between Armenia and Egypt, the interlocutors exchanged views on the political and economic cooperation agenda, as well as a number of regional issues.

15.10.2017 • RA NA Speaker with Heads of Parliaments of Egypt and Benin in Saint Petersburg

On October 15, the RA NA Speaker Ara Babloyan met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Arab Republic of Egypt Ali Abdel-Aal Sayed Ahmed within the framework of his visit to Saint Petersburg. Ara Babloyan has noted that Armenia-Egypt inter-state relations at high level and added that there is great potential of development of cooperation between the two states in the political, economic, cultural and other spheres. The Minister of Economic Development and Investments of RA Suren Karayan and the Minister of Investment and International Cooperation of the Arab Republic of Egypt Sahar Nasr signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in investment sector.
