Political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Egypt

On April 15, in Egypt’s administrative capital, the 11th political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and the Arab Republic of Egypt was held. The consultations were headed by Deputy Ministers Vahan Kostanyan and Wael Hamed.

During the discussions, both sides emphasized the traditionally high level of political dialogue between the two countries, which has intensified in recent years due to reciprocal high-level visits.

The parties commended the growing pace of trade between the two countries and exchanged views on enhancing cooperation in the fields of high technologies, healthcare, tourism, education, and culture.

During the political consultations, the ongoing cooperation and mutual support between the two countries within multilateral platforms were also touched upon. In this context, the Armenian side expressed its readiness to support the candidacy of Khaled al-Anani, nominated by Egypt for the position of UNESCO Director-General.

The interlocutors also touched upon latest regional and international developments, as well as ongoing processes in the Middle East. Vahan Kostanyan briefed his counterpart on the current state of the Armenia-Azerbaijan and Armenia-Turkey normalization processes, as well as on the “Crossroads of Peace” initiative developed by the Government of Armenia aimed at unblocking all regional transport infrastructures.
