''Armenian Studies in the Arab World'' scientific conference took place in Cairo

In the framework of the events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Independence of Armenia, the 6th annual scientific conference of the Armenian studies center of the Cairo university titled <Armenian studies in the Arab world>, took place on the 18th and 19th of October, with the support of the Armenian Embassy in Egypt, the national primacy and the AGBU domestic branch. Many philologists, historians and linguists from Armenia, Egypt, Lebanon, United Kingdom, etc.. participated in the event.

Among the participants, were Dr. Verjine Svazlian, Philologist scholar, Dr. Saleh Zahr El Din, genocide scholar and Salah Mahgoub, head of the Armenian studies center. A number of reports about the Armenians studies, the historical relationships between Armenians and the Arabs in Egypt, the contributions of Armenians in the Arab world, and the support the survivors of the Armenian genocide received from the Arab people were given during the conference.

The opening speech was given by H.E. Dr. Armen Melkonian, the Ambassador of Armenia to Egypt, who highly regarded and appreciated the efforts of the Armenian studies research center in Cairo university, and highlighted the importance between the scientific and research centers of Armenian and the Armenian studies research center in Cairo University.
